Saying goodbye Clarksville, TN || Lewis Family
As a photographer, we are blessed to be part of some of life’s greatest moments-births, senior year, engagements and weddings, but sometimes, we are asked to document the closing of a chapter- a funeral of a loved one, or the last days of a pet’s life.
That was what my sweet friend Jennifer asked, to help her capture Chief’s memory for her and her family to look back on. Sweet Chief was slowing down, and she knew it wasn’t going to be long before they said goodbye, so we spent an afternoon celebrating Chief’s life with lots of kisses and a fun walk on a trail in Clarksville, TN. To say it was an emotional afternoon is an understatement. Her son and Chief had a very close, special bond. The two were inseparable running around.
My heart broke for what the Lewis family was going through, but I am so honored that they trusted me in this intimate afternoon. Saying goodbye to a cherished pet is one of the toughest things to witness, but I hope I did Chief justice and that the Lewis family can look back on these photos for years to come. You are so loved, and so missed, Chief. May your days be spent chasing all the rabbit trails and laying in the sunshine.
