Hey y’all, I’m Sammie D, owner of Sammie D Photography in Clarksville, Tennessee. I’m a dreamer and restless spirit who grew up in a little country Pennsylvania town. I remember photos everywhere in my home: on the walls, in scrapbook albums and overflowing from boxes on the bottom shelf of the storage closet, which is how my home is now.
I joined the military straight out of high school as a public affairs specialist- a fusion of photography, journalism and public relations. It is from my experiences in the last eight years that photography grew from a job to a passion. Being a military photographer, I’ve worked out of UH-60 Blackhawks and stood inches away as Soldiers walked through fire. I can handle just about anything you may think up for your photos.
In my Tennessee home, you’ll find dog hair is an accessory, pizza is a food group, rescue is our favorite breed and laughter cures every horrible-no good-very-bad day. I also have a love-hate relationship with chocolate peanut butter. I love pretty much anything involving it, but my scale definitely hates when I indulge in it. I’ve got a beautiful, if not quirky, family made up of my best friend and husband, Josh, my ornery teenager, Daymien, two rescued Lab mixes and two Great Danes, three crazy rescued cats and an off-the-track-Thoroughbred horse, all of whom fill my Instagram feed on a daily basis. With this full of a house, I know how moments are missed and life gets away from you. That’s why I take every opportunity to photographmy crazy zoo, and that’s why I want to capture your’s too.
My style is centered around being bold and true to who you are, with a huge love and attention for the little details. My specialty is fresh, bold seniors sessions, couples and/or engagement portraits and lifestyle family sessions. If you’re local to Ft. Campbell, KY, I also offer homecoming sessions, because seriously, the best moment in the world is rushing back into your Soldier’s arms after umpteen days apart, trust me I know! On occasion, I’ve also been known to photograph a wedding or two.
Ok, so that’s me in a quick, short nutshell. Of course, there’s more to me than just a few words on a screen, so contact me! Click that little link above, shoot me an email and let’s talk. We can sit down over hot chocolate (or coffee if you like that crazy stuff) and just get to know each other. I am currently taking senior, couples and/or engagement and family portrait sessions for the greater Nashville & Clarksville region, as well as the Hopkinsville & Madsion, KY area. I love to travel, so don’t let a little distance stop you if you aren’t local. I can’t wait to hear from you!
